There are many reasons for wanting to trace a person by telephone number. We’ll come to those later. But first you might want to know exactly “how” to do it?
How To Trace
Your regular phone directory will only give you a number if you have a name. So how do you get the name if you only have the number? What you need is a “reverse phone database”.
Reverse Database?
These are built by computer experts using publically available data and are available to anyone to trace a person. Maybe you had a missed call and don’t know who it is? Maybe your partner keeps receiving these calls and you want to make sure they are not cheating on you? Maybe your daughter is getting calls all the time from the same number and you want to know who she is seeing.
So why are these databases created by companies and not provided by the government? The government think that if they spend money and publicize this kind of reverse database – then it will be open to abuse.
But by allowing third party companies to construct these databases themselves and then restrict access for a very small fee, this means that any abuse that does happen is extremely limited.

Most good providers (including our own recommendation) allow you to do a basic free search to check that they have the details you want before you decide whether to go ahead or not and get full access to name, address history, criminal and background checks and much more.
